This is a plain-English summary to help you understand this document before you read it in full. It is not part of the contract between you and us, and does not replace or override the full terms below, which apply in all cases. If anything in this summary appears to conflict with the full document, the full document applies.
These Website Terms only cover your use of this website — they do not form the contract for anything you buy from us. Purchases are governed by our separate Terms and Conditions (Products and Services) (Section 2).
You may use the website for your own lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes; you must not misuse it, for example by hacking, scraping, or introducing malware (Section 4).
The website's design, content, and branding belong to us or our licensors; you may view and print pages for your own personal use but must not otherwise copy or redistribute them (Section 6).
We aim to keep the website available but do not guarantee this, and our liability for your use of the website is limited as described below, beyond what the law requires (Sections 8 and 9).
How we use cookies and your personal information is explained in our Privacy Notice, not in these Website Terms.
This website is operated by Woodroffe Legal Education ("Woodroffe", "we", "us", "our").
These Website Terms of Use ("Website Terms") govern your use of this website only. They do not form a contract for the purchase of product or service — that contract is governed by our separate Terms and Conditions (Products and Services) ("Terms and Conditions"), which apply once you enrol on or purchase anything from us. How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Notice.
If there is any conflict between these Website Terms and our Terms and Conditions in relation to a purchase or enrolment, our Terms and Conditions take priority for that purchase or enrolment.
This website, and these terms, are intended for users based in the United Kingdom and are written on that basis. We make no representation that the website, or any content on it, is appropriate or available for use outside the UK. If you access the website from another location, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with the laws that apply where you are. Our products and services, described further in our Terms and Conditions, are offered only to customers resident in the United Kingdom.
Our use of cookies and similar technologies on this website is addressed in our Privacy Notice, rather than in these Website Terms.
These terms are written in English. If they are ever translated into another language for convenience, the English-language version will prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency.
By using this website, you accept these Website Terms in full. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use this website.
We may update these terms from time to time in accordance with Section 14. Your continued use of the website after any change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
You may use this website for your own lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes, including browsing our course information and making enquiries.
You must not:
use the website in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation;
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, the server on which it is hosted, or any server, computer, or database connected to it;
introduce any virus, malware, or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful;
attempt a denial-of-service attack, or otherwise attempt to disrupt or impair the website's availability or performance;
use any automated system, script, bot, or scraper to extract data or content from the website, other than standard search engine indexing;
copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute any content from the website except as permitted under Section 6; or
misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organisation when using the website.
We may suspend or restrict your access to the website, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached this section.
You agree to indemnify us against any loss, damage, liability, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) that we incur as a result of your breach of this section, except to the extent that such loss, damage, liability, cost, or expense is caused or contributed to by our own negligence or breach of these terms.
We take reasonable care to ensure that the information on this website is accurate at the time it is published, but we make no representation or warranty, whether express or implied, that it is complete, accurate, or up to date, and we accept no liability for any error or omission.
Any general legal or professional content on this website — including articles, guides, blog-style material, educational materials, or commentary relating to legal education, the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), or the legal profession more generally — is provided for general information purposes only. It does not constitute advice, and should not be relied upon as such. If you require legal advice on a specific matter, you should consult a qualified, practising solicitor or barrister.
Product and service descriptions on this website are provided for marketing and informational purposes. The specific terms of any product or service you purchase are set out in our Terms and Conditions and any related information provided to you at the point of booking or purchase.
Woodroffe is an independent training provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or Kaplan (the organisation appointed by the SRA to administer the SQE assessment), and nothing on this website should be taken to suggest otherwise. The SQE and SOLICITORS QUALIFYING EXAMINATION trade marks are the property of and are used under licence from the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Unless otherwise stated, the website itself — including its design, layout, look and feel, text, graphics, and logos — is owned by or licensed to Woodroffe and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
"Woodroffe Legal Education" is an unregistered trademark. You must not use our name, branding, or logos in a way that suggests any endorsement, affiliation, or connection with your own products, services, or organisation, or in a way that amounts to passing off.
You may view and print pages from the website for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not otherwise copy, modify, reproduce, or distribute any part of the website without our prior written permission.
This section covers the website itself. Intellectual property in educational materials, recordings, and other products you access as a customer is addressed separately in our Terms and Conditions.
If you believe that material published on this website infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us using the details in Section 15, describing the material concerned and your rights in it, and we will investigate and respond promptly.
This website may contain links to third-party websites, including the Google and Stripe platforms we use to deliver our services (see our Privacy Notice for further detail on these). We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party website, and a link does not imply our endorsement of it. If you follow a link to a third-party website, that website's own terms and privacy policy will apply to your use of it, and you use it entirely at your own risk.
Where a third party offers a discount to our customers on their own products (for example, a publisher offering a discount on books), that discount and any related terms are the responsibility of the third party, not Woodroffe.
Accessing our courses and tuition separately requires signing in to teaching platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Google Calendar using a Google account. That access is not "use of the website" for the purposes of these terms; it is instead governed by our Terms and Conditions and by Google's own terms of service.
We aim to keep this website available and functioning correctly, but we do not guarantee that it will be available at all times, or that it will be free of interruptions, errors, or delays. Access may be suspended, restricted, or withdrawn without notice — for example, for maintenance, updates, or technical issues.
We may change, update, or discontinue any part of this website, including its content and features, at any time.
We do not warrant that the website is free from viruses, malware, or other harmful components, and we recommend that you use your own up-to-date virus protection software. We are not liable for any loss or damage caused by a virus, denial-of-service attack, or other technologically harmful material that affects your device as a result of using this website or downloading any content from it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to the above, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, or from your reliance on any content published on it — including, without limitation, any indirect or consequential loss, or any loss of profit, revenue, data, or goodwill. This section relates to your use of the website itself. Our liability in connection with products and services you purchase from us is instead governed by our Terms and Conditions.
If any provision of these Website Terms is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed to the minimum extent required, and the remaining provisions will continue to have full force and effect.
We may transfer or assign our rights and obligations under these Website Terms to another person — whether an individual or an organisation — for example in connection with a sale, merger, or reorganisation of our business. This will not affect your rights under these terms.
You may not transfer or assign your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent.
These Website Terms, together with our Privacy Notice and (where applicable) our Terms and Conditions, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your use of this website, and supersede any prior agreement or understanding relating to that use.
These Website Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims), are governed by the law of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim, except that, if you are an individual using this website otherwise than for the purposes of a trade, business, craft, or profession, this section does not restrict any entitlement you have under mandatory law to bring proceedings in the courts of another part of the United Kingdom in which you are domiciled or habitually resident, to the extent (and only to the extent) that such law entitles you to do so.
We may update these Website Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the website or the law. Where we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.
